this just made me feel so touched. especially when the first old lady went up to hug the guy.
the "free hugs" story - started by a single guy named juan mann.
apparently they reached out to more than 10,000 people.
that may be true or untrue,
but it just made me feel better, irregardless :)

its like, after an entire day of bullshitting around at school trying to cudgel some insignificant piece of information into my brain that i'd probably forget right after A levels anyway, and wondering why i have to put myself through this seemingly irrelevant crap, its like switching on a lightbulb.

isnt this what we're living for? or at the very least, since we are living, isnt this what we want in our lives, non-judgemental, non-discriminating universal love and peace? i may sound like a hippy, but im being serious here. this is really what's inspiring. not, im ashamed to say, the sai gang we're doing now for singapore environmental council. there's nothing wrong with our community service project. the sec is a respectable organisation with whom im really glad to work. its just that MY ATTITUDE IS WAYYYY OFF. even feeling thankful that at least we have been given the chance to fulfil our cip hours is WRONG. THATS NOT CIP, THAT'S THE MENTALITY OF CUBICLE-OFFICED CORPORATE WORKERS BEING ENGRAINED INTO OUR SKULL.

does anyone get what im trying to convey? i wonder if anyone even feels that way. the cip we're doing now does not inspire change. in any case, THERE IS NO CHANGE, except a modicum of convenience we're bringing to the staff of an npo. what i really wanna do is go and clean out some mangroves. beach cleaning sucks, because essentially what we're doing is clearing out the beach so more people can play and party and dirty it again. with mangroves its different, because unlike east coast, theres a much more diverse range of creatures who will benefit from our sai gang. horseshoe crabs and mudskippers and birds, for example.

oh well, great job to juan mann, and everyone who hugged and was hugged. even the security officers, even though they work for the "dark side". lol!

everyone needs a little more loving in this world :)
