OK.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!
you're forty-three
from the day you were finally free
and as all the kns sceptics can see
that's the way you're gonna be.

cos we are the champions, WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS..

did you know that Singapore is one of only 3 remaining true city-states in the world? the other two are Monaco and Vatican City. trivial trivia.

anyways, yesterday was national day celebrations in school - it only rocked during the song session part. and the fancy drill parade part, where all the juniors came out to march their stuff. at least gayathri didnt let the right-marker position down!! yayy. and everyone was coming out to say that crcy was chao bang afterward. i mean, come on! 3 letters - D.U.H.

its a complete pain in the backside knowing that if only we stepped on it during the competition period and not slacked so often, we would have won hands-down. fdc's first place this year were definitely good, but they're not the ones the syf organisers asked to perform for at the syf ceremony right.

hmm. i told them it was alright to lose once cos we learnt from our mistakes. i must have been delusional, maybe insane with devastation or something. ITS NOT ALRIGHT. WE'RE COMING BACK WITH A VENGEANCE. AND cedar is going to give her most unrelenting effort for the challenge shield. (im learning not to say that "we WILL win" because it seems to do more harm than good by breeding complacency. ie. "i WILL get A1 for chemistry midyears", and look how that turned out.)

SAY IT WITH CONVICTION ONLY AFTER YOU'VE GOT FOUNDATION, JOYCIE.

........................................................................

ok. caught the olympic opening ceremony yesterday.
my mind must be somewhere in Kelantan, Malaysia by now, cos it was completely BLOWN AWAY.
outstanding! spectacular! standing ovation!
though im not sure about all the nitrogenous oxides being released into the air though. what on earth is with all that extravagant fireworks?? can't they do something else, like cloud writing or releasing birds that wouldnt affect the globe's failing ozone layer already?

our substitute hmt teacher told us to watch the olympics cos we're long de chuan ren (descendents of the dragon) and ought to support our motherland. i thought that was a complete bullshit reason, because while i am chinese and proud of it our motherland is singapore and its not as if our fellow descendents of dragons gave two hoots about us anyway.
but after watching the whole thing (and waiting one bloody long hour looking at all the teams making their rounds, waiting for singapore's turn to come) i m basically just awestruck. amazing. unbelievable hoardes of people, half of which looked about just cooked alive in their western suits.

all in all, yesterday was a superbly magnificent ceremony. only damper was the part where i waited so long for singapore to come out, only to find that Li Jiawei was carrying the flag and dragging a portion of it on the floor. felt so cheated, not that i have anything against her. SINGAPORE TEAM, JIA YOU!!!!
